A Naturopath’s Guide to Spring

A NATUROPATH’S GUIDE TO SPRING:

- Swap out the heavy oven roasts and try to begin incorporating more fresh alternatives, light salads, grilled fish etc.

- Traditionally, Spring is the season of the liver - support it through its detoxification via consumption of cruciferous veg (eg. Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, curly kale)

- Further support your liver and elimination pathways via adequate water consumption, a rough rule being 1L per every 20kg of weight. Tea’s such as Nettle are also great, and will help combat the hay fever sniffles

- Get outdoors and enjoy the milder temperatures, longer days and more sunshine whilst being physically active

- Eat produce that is in season - apples, mandarins, oranges, pineapple, lemons, asian greens, asparagus, beans, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, garlic, ginger, lettuce, onions, spring onions, peas, silverbeet, pumpkin, spinach, cantaloupe, celery, fennel and many more!

- Many of us go into hibernation mode during Winter (this is normal), but allow yourself now to disconnect a little from social media and reconnect with your loved ones in person

We’ve just walked into a new season, Spring finally!

Energetically, we are more inclined to reach out to our people, it’s a time of new growth and new beginnings. It is also a time for us to remain flexible whilst still deepening our own roots in a season of renewal and a time of new inspiration and visions.
I’m personally most excited for my Spring garden, ranunculus flowers (currently just beginning to bloom) and new herb growth.

One dreaded part of Spring is unfortunately the hay fever that often comes with it.

Naturopathy has a lot to offer for the hayfevery sneezes, runny/blocked noses and itchy eyes, so please reach out if you feel like you need extra support. Keep your eyes peeled for my next blog post, specifically targeting hayfever.
